- Age Restriction: This product is only to be used by persons aged 16 years and over due to the risk of injury from hot liquids.
Safety Warnings
WARNING: RISK OF BURNS AND CRACKING
-
Handle with Care (Hot Liquids): The ceramic material and the liquid inside will become very hot. Always handle the mug by the handle. Use caution to avoid scalding from the hot liquid or the mug's surface.
-
Avoid Thermal Shock: Do not pour boiling water directly into a cold mug, or place a hot mug onto a cold or wet surface (e.g., a cold kitchen countertop or a refrigerator shelf). This rapid temperature change (thermal shock) can cause the ceramic to crack or shatter. Tip: Pre-warm the mug with a little warm tap water before pouring in your hot beverage.
-
Inspect Before Use: Before each use, carefully inspect the mug for any signs of damage, such as chips, cracks, or hairline fractures. Discontinue use immediately if any damage is found, as it may compromise the structural integrity and safety of the mug, or harbour bacteria.
- Microwave Use:
- Check for Safety: Only use the mug in a microwave if it is explicitly labeled as "Microwave Safe."
-
Handling: The mug will become very hot in the microwave. Always use an oven mitt or towel to remove it.
-
Not for Stovetop/Open Flame: Do not use the mug directly on a stovetop, electric hob, gas ring, or over an open flame.
Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning:
-
Handwashing Recommended: For best results and to prolong the life of the glaze and decoration, handwashing with a mild dish soap and warm water is recommended.
-
Avoid Abrasives: Do not use abrasive scouring pads, steel wool, or harsh, corrosive detergents, as these can scratch the glaze, leading to staining and potential damage over time. Use a soft sponge or cloth.
-
Stain Removal: For coffee or tea stains, a gentle soak in warm water with a mild detergent, or a paste of baking soda and water applied with a soft cloth, can help remove discolouration.
- Storage:
- Ensure the mug is completely dry before storing.
- Store carefully to prevent chipping. Avoid tightly stacking mugs without protection, as this can cause chipping to the rims and bases.
- Glaze: This product uses a certified food-safe, lead-free, and cadmium-free glaze.
Disposal
Dispose of broken or unusable ceramic items responsibly, following your local waste and recycling guidelines.
